Robin Cameron, Orem Elementary; teacher
Wendy Sloan, Orem Elementary; teacher

Ms. Cameron and Ms. Sloan are both amazing! They are strict, but very nice. They taught us how to be very nice and be respectful and never give up and to work hard.

Mrs. Baumgarten is so nice and she has a lot of fun activities for you to do and she is so sweet.”

Sarah Jennings, Orchard Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Jennings was supportive to all her students and helped and encouraged us. She supported our ideas. She did fun activities that helped us learn and be successful.

Jolynne Miner, Centennial Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Miner has always been a great 3rd grade teacher. She never yelled at us even when she was unhappy with us. She would always help us when we had questions and me and my friend would always stay late after school to help with setting papers out and cleaning. Mrs. Miner always made fun ways to learn. She would bring treats to learn with. Like when we were learning area she brought cheez-its. I remember one day she came to school with a broken leg and we all felt so bad, but one lesson she taught me was the most important lesson. She help me learn how to be kind. (Thanks Mrs. Miner)

Cris Vera, Orem Elementary; custodian

Cris Vera, the janitor of Orem Elementary, I think he is an example of a person who is gentle and kind to people and he always thinks of us when it’s not time to cook, he always converses with us for those reasons. I think he is a very good candidate to win the award. He is an incredible person for me.

I chose Mr. Vera because he is very good, hard-working, also because he cleans the school every day. He is very nice to everyone and he is funny and I like him very much and I think he deserves it. Because if we find the school clean, I think he deserves it and I say it with all my heart.”

Sheila Alt, Orchard Elementary; teacher

Ms. Alt was an awesome teacher. She taught us good skills, did fun activities, and other fun things. She taught Hope of America and the Great American Challenge. She helped us learn and grow.

Mr. Castro was an awesome teacher. He taught us good skills, did fun activities, and other cool things. He taught Hope of America and the Great American Challenge. He helped us learn and grow. I loved having him as a teacher.

Tracy Kohler, Skyridge High; teacher

Ms. Kohler has been an excellent English teacher to my junior, but what really stood out to me was the end of the year project that inspired my daughter. Ms. Kohler assigned a series of self-reflection papers and poems in which she emphasized the process more than the outcome. By framing it as she did, she allowed the students to genuinely learn about themselves in an adaptive way. As a therapist I find her work to be immensely important in helping teens understand their personal worth and values. Her influence has made a difference and embodies the RISE award objectives.

Bailey Moon, Brookhaven Elementary; teacher

Bailey Moon organized a professional development conference for 6th grade students at Brookhaven to help them gain needed skills for the transition to middle school. Students dressed up, there were breakout sessions and bags and conference materials, snacks and keynote speakers. Students worked on listening skills, note taking, schedules, and transitions-all important skills as students advance to middle school. Bailey does such a phenomenal job of investing in each of her students and making sure that they are set up for future success.

Joshua Hall, Mountain View High; teacher

Mr. Hall is the best teacher out there. He gets along with the students and is super supportive and is very helpful when trying to learn. I race motocross and he came out and filmed some of my races and we are making a film about it. He treats everyone equally and respects everyone. He’s super including of everyone and a super smart man. I enjoy being in his class and learning the things I’ve learned from him Mr. Hall deserves the rise award. He’s treated me very well and I respect the man. Thank you, Mr. Hall.

Natalie Scow, Thunder Ridge Elementary; teacher

My daughter has loved being Mrs. Scow’s 3rd grade class this year. Mrs. Scow has gone above and beyond in so many ways. To name a few: the kids recently learned about habitats and they got to build a habitat and parents got to come and be involved with it. It was a huge hit for my daughter. It was a very memorable experience. Mrs. Scow has gone above and beyond to plan an extra fun month of May. She is a great communicator to parents. She also handles children’s feelings and emotions very well. She loves her students and creates such a safe and positive classroom environment.

Jeff Shirley, Thunder Ridge Elementary; administrator

Mr. Shirley is an incredible principal! He goes above and beyond to create a positive school environment. To make a few ways: he slept on the roof of our school it we earned our goal money for the fundraiser, he does fun student and parents nights, creates a positive and safe learning environment. You can tell he truly cares about our school and our children. He listens to parents and wants to make change.

Jessica Larson, Manila Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Larson is an exceptional kindergarten teacher. Our child struggled with the idea of going to school. Mornings were filled with tears and anxiety. Mrs. Larson’s warm demeanor put him at ease. She patiently built trust and created a welcoming environment. Her creative teaching methods turned learning into an exciting adventure. Her dedication to her students’ emotional well-being is remarkable. She has fostered a safe, inclusive space where students feel confident and valued. Thanks to Mrs. Larson, our kindergartner has developed a love for learning and newfound self-assurance.

Natalie Spadafora, Manila Elementary; teacher

Miss Spadafora is a wonderful fourth-grade teacher. Our child often struggled with staying focused, but her patience and innovative teaching methods made a world of difference. Her engaging lessons and personalized attention helped our child stay on task and develop a genuine interest in learning. Miss Spadafora’s supportive and encouraging environment allowed him to thrive both academically and personally. We are incredibly grateful for Miss Spadafora’s dedication and the positive impact she has had on our child’s academic journey.

Nathan Whipple, Meadow Elementary; teacher

Mr. Whipple has been such a blessing to our school this year. Not only did he step in and fill a big role in our school, but he did it with a very positive attitude. His smile and positivity radiate through our school and affect both students and faculty alike. I am so impressed and inspired by the way Mr. Whipple encourages, helps, and cares for his students. He has been a light in our school and I am so grateful for the energy and kindness he has brought to our school this year.

Addie Hicks, Lake Mountain Middle; sweeper

Addy is an amazing student custodian. She is friendly and helpful. My room has never been so clean each day, and I can tell when she has been gone because my room just isn’t quite the same. She is really conscientious and willing to help outside of her regular duties. I and the other teachers in my hallway so grateful to have met Addy this year.

Tim Goodman, Saratoga Shores Elementary; teacher

Mr. Goodman is the example of a teacher that goes above and beyond and beyond and beyond. He is the teacher that all of the kids always come back and see regardless of their grade and age. He is by far the best teacher I have ever seen in my years as a teacher and as a parent.

Kylianne Moe, Mountain Trails Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Moe went above and beyond for her whole class this year. She not only helped each of her students to succeed, she encouraged them to excel. She genuinely cares about and loves her students. Making sure they are learning, but having fun with it. She helped my son throughout this year and made sure he didn’t fall behind which I feared he would with how sick he was. She is so positive to be around and punny! I can’t thank her enough!

Rita Lewis, Central Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Lewis has been an amazing teacher for my son, pushing him to do his best in reading and math. She has inspired him to love reading and learning throughout the year.
