July 31 – RISE Nominations

Sarah Kaiser, Aspen Elementary; teacher

Ms. Kaiser has been an absolute standout. In just one year, she’s done wonders for my daughter Kalea. Despite being on an IEP for quite some time, we hadn’t seen much progress until Ms. Kaiser came into the picture. She’s not just a teacher; she’s like a dream come true. Her genuine care for her students and her knack for identifying their strengths and helping them reach their full potential is truly remarkable. We feel incredibly lucky to have had her teaching Kalea this year.

Danley Phillips, Lehi Junior; teacher

Danley Phillips has truly inspired me to be a better person. His teaching doesn’t focus on memorization, but rather the importance of gaining experiences and going out and creating a better world for all of us. Mr. Phillips has a deeper understanding of what it really means to learn and grow, and it shines through every time he teaches. His class is one I feel comfortable in, and one I tend to be the most productive in. Not only is he an English teacher, but a friend.

First, Mr. Phillips is a great teacher! I had him in 7th grade, and we always have so much fun reading books in class. He is so nice and will help us with lots of things and homework. I have him now in 9th grade. He is great and always says nice things and gives me fidget toys in the homeroom! We always get a good lesson out of that class. I requested to be in his class for the homeroom, and I am now in his homeroom again! He lets us create a playlist of our favorite songs, and we even have a theme song from a show, and he encourages us to do homework or have a break if we need.”

Steven is a fantastic occupational therapist and colleague. Where many may settle into the routine of their jobs, Steven consistently looks for opportunities to improve himself and his capacity as a therapist by taking on new challenges and expanding his knowledge base. He is a natural leader, makes well-reasoned and measured decisions, and is consistently a reliable voice of reason when difficult decisions have to be made. When I need advice or need to collaborate to solve a problem, I go to Steven. And he is amazing with the students he serves.
