Canvas Intro for 7th Graders
Canvas is a Learning Management System used by teachers and students in Alpine School District.
The application that serves as our primary platform for delivering online classroom instruction is Canvas. Canvas can be accessed anywhere a student has the Internet. When students enroll in classes in Alpine District schools, those classes are automatically added to Canvas. Teachers are then able to use Canvas to create an online curriculum for each class. This online curriculum can include instruction, notes, videos, discussions, assignments, quizzes, and more.
Nearpod is an application that is often used inside of Canvas. Nearpod provides students with helpful lessons and review materials. Teachers will typically paste a link in Canvas to a Nearpod lesson that students can easily access by merely clicking on the link. Once the lesson begins, students may work at their own pace. Once the lesson has finished, a report is generated and delivered to the teacher.
The G-Suite is another application that is commonly used. Many parents may already be familiar with some G-Suite programs, such as Google Documents or Google Slides. Each student has a G-Suite account connected to their student Gmail account. This means that all students have a Google Drive and access to all of the G-Suite programs. With the G-Suite, students have the ability to type reports and create presentations.
MasteryConnect is an application primarily used for assessing students. Instructors typically use it together with Canvas. MasteryConnect offers a wide variety of assessment question types and provides instructors and students with valuable feedback.
