As you may recall, the proposed 2022 bond was not successful. Consequently, the Alpine School District Board of Education and district staff have reviewed many options and determined a districtwide boundary study is needed to mitigate additional student enrollment and address aging buildings. Some schools are over capacity, while other schools have room for additional students. This study will facilitate the effective use of all of our existing buildings and inform where boundary changes and/or school closures are warranted.
After the initial review of the study, parents of schools that could be impacted by a boundary change or closure will receive additional information. Study outcomes may result in boundary changes impacting some schools for the 2023 school year, while others may take effect in 2024 or at a later date.
While the boundary changes may only impact a few schools throughout the district, parents must be made aware that we are studying all school enrollments and associated boundaries. Please refer to Utah State Statute 53G-4-402 (section 21), which regulates the process of boundary changes.
