Natalie Robbins, Dan Peterson School; paraprofessional

Natalie is an exceptional Adapted PE paraprofessional. She loves the students she works with and helps them reach new heights. She is committed, dedicated and hard working. She engages with the students and helps them overcome fears, learn new skills and how to respect themselves and others. She is postive, hopeful and encouraging. You can always count on Natalie!

Makayla Youd, Dry Creek Elementary; teacher

Ms. Youd spends a lot of time and effort to make her students feel loved and included. At Christmas, she decorated her room and got her students involved in the holiday spirit. (She even got a Grinch suit to spread the holiday cheer with all the students at Dry Creek). We love Ms. Youd!

Bob Barnes, Lehi High; counselor

Bob is a caring counselor who always tries to help students. He has spent countless hours and years giving back to the Lehi community and is beloved by all those that work with him. With his sense of humor and kindness he has been able to connect with students at Lehi High. We all love working with Bob and admire his fun personality and ability to connect well with others!

Maddie Hall, Mountain Ridge Junior; teacher

Maddie makes a continual effort to connect with her students. I have seen students that have not had Maddie for years who still love and adore her! She makes an impact to current and past students. She goes the extra mile to seek out connection and everyone loves Ms. Hall!

Caroline Knadler, Barratt Elementary; administrator

Ms. Knadler is the principal at Barratt Elementary. I have never met or seen a principal so involved with ALL the students in the school. She knows every child’s name, she participates in IEP meetings and she gets the job done properly. Not only do my children love her but she has a special relationship with every student there. She walks the kindergarteners every day to the bus. Honestly she is behind why all the students succeed. I’m thankful she does what she does and no one does it better!

Gabrielle Stoker, Dry Creek Elementary; teacher

Miss Stoker is a great teacher! She is always caring about others. She also never forgets when it is a special day for someone, no matter what it is. She is loving and works so hard. She is never selfish or mean. I know she always cares about me and everybody else in our class. This is why I think that the AMAZING Miss Stoker REALLY deserves the RISE award!

My 8th grader lost his 22 year old brother to a drunk driver in November out of state and we were gone for 3 1/2 weeks. Mr. Rice has helped my son with his school work, calming his anxiety, questions I have had, and resources. He has helped calm the nerves of all of us on a few things.

Natalie Barth, Windsor Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Barth is amazing at teaching her students how to learn, not simply teaching the subject matter. She is caring and patient with each student while also having great class management. You can tell that she cares about her students as whole people.

This group of kids has been through a lot. Last year they went through several different teachers. Ms. Barth seems to have a healing way about her. She is able to understand where each student is at, meet them there, and encourage them to be their best.”

Melissa Burk, Windsor Elementary; ELL specialist

Ms. Burk cared about my kids while in her class and the years after. She is present at every school function with a big smile and welcoming presence. I saw her at the airport recently and she did a fun pose for a picture that I could send my daughters. Every interaction with her is lovely and positive.

Carissa Allen, Sage Hills Elementary; media specialist

From always having the library decorated for the season, to reading contests, Battle of the Books, Book Talks, and exposure to literature, the students likely wouldn’t try on their own, Carissa works tirelessly to make reading fun and enjoyable for all of our students! On top of that, she’s a wonderful friend, listener, and supporter for the teachers too!”

Mr. Spencer makes learning so much fun! My daughter has a chronic illness that makes even getting out of bed seem impossible many days. The single reason she wants to go to school many days is because of Mr. Spencer’s Animal Science II class. She absolutely loves the class and the engaging way he teaches. We are so grateful to him!!

Dayla is truly a remarkable speech therapist who transformed my oldest daughter’s life! She positively impacts every student she works with from her incredible patience, dedication, and innovative approach. She helped my daughter overcome Selective Mutism -a feat no one else could achieve. Dayla embodies kindness, encouragement, and selflessness, in turn, increasing confidence and inspiring students to find their voice. Kari Trejo, Lehi High; teacher

Mrs. Trejo has been so kind and loving to my daughter. She has been a safe person at the high school and has given her so much hope. I am forever grateful for her being a loving teacher in my daughters life. When I sent out a letter to every teacher with concern for my daughter, she was the only one who replied with a genuine response. I will be forever grateful to her.

Bekkah Terry, Bonneville Elementary; teacher

Bekkah is a Kindergarten teacher at Bonneville. Bekkah has worked very hard to help students become their best this year. It is remarkable watching her students have their “lightbulb moment”. It is wonderful to see her excitement as she celebrates her students and all of their hard work. Bekkah works so hard every day in front of the class and behind the scenes. Each child matters to her. Carey Ventura, Frontier Middle; teacher

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mrs. Ventura and the Latinos in Action for several years and it has had a fantastic impact on my students. I love seeing how the relationships built between my students and their mentors has given them the confidence to try hard things and work collaboratively with new people. Mrs. Ventura cultivates a fantastic community with her students and I appreciate her sharing it with my class.

Jill Allgaier is the “Swiss Army Knife” of Special Education. If you have a question, need instructional support, behavior support, compliance support, or just a good friend to get advice on how to handle any situation, Jill will be there and know what to do. Not only does she support Dan Peterson, but she trains bus drivers, and provides the same level of support to Horizon School as Dan Peterson. She also provides support around the entire district to IEP teams and individual teachers. Jill is amazing for students, staff, and all of Alpine School District. We love Jill!”

Sean Sagers, Lakeridge Junior; teacher

Mr. Sagers is an incredibly hardworking science teacher who goes above and beyond for his students and school community. Serving on multiple leadership teams, he tirelessly works to ensure all students succeed. This year, he has placed a significant focus on revamping end-of-term awards to better celebrate student achievements. Additionally, his dedication to analyzing data has helped drive meaningful improvements in both teaching practices and student outcomes. Mr. Sagers is a teacher who consistently goes above and beyond for his students, earning the admiration of everyone around him. I recall how much fun it was to attend his class before lunch. Making people laugh and work together, being patient with chaos(especially the chaos I would bring back in middle school). Mr. Sagers would also show us how to make rockets in class, and we would go outside and shoot them as a project. This showed how he trusted us as well as encouraged us.”

Mrs. O’Day has been so inspirational and selfless towards my student. Working with her in the capacity of colleague and parent can be tricky, but she has gone above and beyond to make a very difficult transition work. She has been understanding and caring towards my son and really is the same for all her students. She is such a calming presence to those among storms and it is greatly appreciated the beacon of light she shares.”

Kimberly Schettler, Lone Peak High; teacher

If you want to experience Biology, go to Mrs. Schettler’s room. It is amazing, so neat and clean. She is a great teacher who works with students but yet holds them accountable to their own learning. Her room speaks volumes to her knowledge and excitement for Biology that she wants to share with her students. She has helped me with many students who have both her class and mine (Study Hall). These students, might need a boost of confidence, a teacher to take a little extra time, or for someone to really see them as they are. She is so patient and kind, but also firm. Schettler is amazing.

One of the nicest and best teachers at Lone Peak, Mrs. Schettler has always been so kind to me even though I’ve never taken her class before. She held a Christmas present I bought for a separate teacher for me, and that was so kind. She’s truly one of the best teachers Lone Peak has ever had.”

Camille Stewart, Lake Mountain Middle; teacher

Ms. Stewart inspired and supported me in ways no other teacher has. She encouraged me to submit my poem to a contest, which led to it being published—something I never thought possible. Her belief in me gave me the confidence to take risks and grow. She created a safe, uplifting classroom environment where students felt valued and empowered. Her dedication to teaching and genuine care for her students changed my life. Without her encouragement, I wouldn’t have reached this milestone. Ms. Stewart embodies everything a great teacher should be, which is why I’m nominating her as a RISE nominee.

Sara Cohn, Desert Sky Elementary; teacher

Despite there being a million kindergartners out here in Eagle Mountain, Sara can manage a class in her sleep. She makes it look easy. My child comes home every day and rants and raves about how Ms. Cohn did this fun thing while learning, or we got to be creative. He is always so excited to see her and tells me he misses her during breaks. She creates a safe environment for the kids to learn and feel like they can do anything they put their minds too.

Melissa Robinson, Riverview Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Robinson’s natural warmth helps her students feel happy, secure, and ready to learn. My child loved her class. She engaged and inspired students by incubating chicks in the classroom. She taught effectively. She provided many opportunities for students to explore their creativity through art. She went above and beyond by making individual scarves for each student for Christmas, embroidered with their name. At the end of the year, she again put forth a stunning effort to create a set of laminated photographs for every student with pictures of their personal highlights throughout the year.

Haley Birkeland, Lehi High; teacher

Haley has been a fantastic coworker during my time at Lehi High School. She is incredibly welcoming, hard working, intelligent, and selfless. She is eager to improve her pedagogy, and I enjoy planning units with her so I can get her insights. She is an excellent driving force for Lehi, pushing us towards a more welcoming, engaged, and respectful environment. I can tell she loves her students and that they love her back.

Lisa Pett, Viewpoint Middle; teacher

Lisa Pett goes out of her way for her students every day. She cares so deeply for her students and creates such amazing lessons FOR HER STUDENTS. I have watched her spend hours, days, weeks, and months to make learning fun and meaningful for students at Viewpoint, and therefore she deserves to be recognized for it. Lisa Pett is an amazing colleague and friend, but she is a phenomenal teacher.

Angie Johnson, Sego Lily Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Johnson has been making a difference in children’s lives for years and my daughter has been so blessed to have her as a teacher twice! She is the most encouraging and loving teacher. She makes the children feel safe and important in and out of her classroom. She is always willing to give extra help to her students and make sure they are getting best education! I can not say enough good things about the AMAZING Mrs. Johnson! She has gone above and beyond for my daughter and all her students! Jolyn Kirkman, Aspen Elementary; teacher

Jolyn has the biggest heart, loves the most, and the students, staff, and parents know it. She has started so many wonderful traditions here at Aspen and is so influential to the positive, inclusive, and kind atmosphere at our school. Jessica Lamborn, Windsor Elementary; aide

Jessi has done amazing things this year with our multi-lingual learner students and building their capacity. She encourages them to practice their English skills and gives them a safe place to practice and learn. Jessi is constantly applying the things that she learns from trainings to what she is doing with the students she works with. She takes the time to set goals with them and explain things. I am very glad that I get to work with her. Jessi is an amazing para! We have seen such progress with our MLs and they are participating more in class. I know Jessi has made a huge impact with this change.

Zuleika Palomino, Windsor Elementary; aide

Zuleika is literally the happiest and nicest person ever. She loves her job and loves all kids. She is an aide in our Special Ed preschool and she handles it with love and excitement. Zuleika greets everyone she meets with a smile. I have seen her patiently teach little children things. I know for a while she was working at Orem Jr. High too and she was a huge asset there as well. Zuleika is an amazing worker and wonderful coworker.”

Shauna Shelton, Windsor Elementary; aide

Shauna is an amazing aide here at Windsor. All of the students love her. She is a hard worker and is very compassionate. Shauna willingly covers other people’s duties if they are out sick with a smile. Shauna helps so many of our shy kiddos feel comfortable and loved here at school. She is one in a million and we are very lucky to have her here at Windsor.

Lisa Holyoak, Black Ridge Elementary; aide

Lisa is the most amazing aide a grade level could ask for. She is so willing to do whatever is asked of her. The students in our grade adore her and love when they get to work with Mrs. Lisa. She is patient and kind with the students as well as the staff. I am so impressed by her every single day!!!

Erin Lawings, Ridgeline Elementary; teacher

Mrs. Lawings moved to our school just weeks before it started. It felt a little chaotic for everyone– especially for 1st graders. But she settled in quickly and I can tell you from being in her classroom, that those kids ADORE her. I love they way they have learned to acknowledge their feelings in morning meetings. She plays the guitar!! We went on a field trip and these kids not only get a teacher, but she sees the magic they do too! Lucky, lucky kids.”
