Lois Johnson
Lois Johnson is a choir teacher at Lone Peak High School. She has been selected as the National Federation of High Schools Section 7 Outstanding Music Educator for the 2011-2012 school year. Lois represents the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. This award has been given to Lois for the significant impact she has had on high school activities programs, the service she has provided to countless students as a dedicated music teacher and for exemplifying the highest standards of ethical conduct. Lois will be presented with a commemorative plaque at the Utah Music Educators Association conference in February.
A colleague of Lois said, “Lois truly exemplifies the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism and is an extraordinary music teacher.”

Becky Cox
Becky is a FACS teacher at Lone Peak High School. She recently received the Association of Career and Technical Education Family and Consumer Sciences Education Division Award for Outstanding Contribution. This is the highest national honor given to members of ACTE who have made outstanding contributions to Family and Consumer Sciences. Only 1 or 2 of these awards are given per year and it has been 20 years since any teacher from Utah has received this award.
One of Becky’s former colleagues said, “Becky excels as a classroom teacher. Her students treat her with respect and are well disciplined. Her students are at ease in her classroom yet attentive and engaged. Becky is one of those rare teachers that have a balanced blend if firmness and smiles. Her students respond to her pleasant personality and obvious sincere love for them, while at the same time expecting exceptional academic performance.â€

Ruth King
Ruth King is a teacher a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. The National Council for the Social Studies had named her as Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year. This award is presented annually to recognize social studies teachers that demonstrate exceptional abilities in developing and using instructional material creatively and effectively, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and techniques into their teaching, fostering a spirit of inquiry, and encouraging the development of democratic beliefs, values, and skills needed to become effective citizens.
Jeremy Brunner, Principal at Cedar Ridge Elementary says, “Ruth is passionate about helping students learn the important lessons of social studies. She takes initiative to create unique and meaningful learning experiences. She makes history come alive and works with her team to ensure that concepts of history, geography, government, and culture are integrated into all other subjects taught.â€
